Report No. OIS20240827PSI-01. Inspection conducted on 27 August 2024 in China. Inspector: Colin.
One of the most licence-complex reports in our portfolio — six variants of 165g bath bombs under four separate IP licences:
#8823 — Mentos Blackberry 165g | licence: Perfetti Van Melle #8822 — Fruittella Raspberry 165g | licence: Perfetti Van Melle #8840 — Peppa Pig Raspberry 165g | licence: Hasbro / Entertainment One (eOne) #8652 — Paw Patrol Chase Blackberry 165g | licence: Nickelodeon / Spin Master #8653 — Paw Patrol Skye Raspberry 165g | licence: Nickelodeon / Spin Master #8839 — Paw Patrol Marshall Mango 165g | licence: Nickelodeon / Spin Master
Order: 128,032 units (4,001 cartons). Ready at time of inspection: 123,136 units (96.17%).
Inspection standard: ANSI/ASQ Z1.4-2008, plan G-II, samples adjusted to the lot size of each variant (33–156 units per variant). AQL limits: CRI 0 / MAJ 2.5 / MIN 4.0.
Functional tests included: dissolution in 38–45°C water within 20 minutes (PASS), white fabric dyeing test (PASS), comparative smell test (PASS), weight test on 5 units of each variant — results 166–176g, all above the 165g minimum. Barcode scanning: PASS. Carton dimensions (~32×31×17cm / ~6.47–6.53kg): PASS.
Inspectors identified an issue requiring action: PDQ (display carton) was not folded inward as per specification. The factory agreed to rework before shipment — a practical example of how on-site inspection prevents issues from reaching the end client. QR codes were also found missing on Fruittella and Mentos gift boxes (the other four variants had QR codes).
Three tests remained Pending due to factory-side issues: drop test (refused), transportation test (no machine), bubble effect test (no foaming effect after dissolution — noted for client).
Defects at the variant level were all within AQL limits. Dominant defect types: surface mechanical damage, cracks, foreign objects inside shrink film. All six variants: AQL PASS.
Inspection result: PASS. Goods approved for shipment following PDQ rework by the factory.
